BILLAWAR, Jan 13: The Kisan Sabha celebrated its 34th foundation day at Thara Kalwal, where a large number of farmers participated.
Hari Chand Jalmeria, State president of Kisan Sabha was the chief guest on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Jalmeria expressed concern over unfriendly policies of Government towards farmers, who comprise 80% of country’s population. He said that Government is projecting other sectors but ignoring the agriculture which is the backbone of the Indian society.
Later, the Kisan Sabha passed resolutions demanding creation of Billawar district without any dealy, relief to farmers whose crops were damaged by uncertain weather conditions and floods during 2014, providing crops and cattle insurance to farmers, create jobs for peasantry in villages, make lift irrigation from river Ujh at Khjbban, pension to farmers after the age of 60 years, providing procurement centres and cold storages for produce of the farmers, etc.
Meanwhile, 18-member committee was elected for Ramkot with Bhagat Ram Sharma as president, Raj Kumar, Shanker Dass and Ram Dutt as vice-presidents, Dharam Chand as secretary, Som Raj as joint secretary and Shori Lal as treasurer.
