SRINAGAR, Dec 29: Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHARA) has expressed satisfaction over the arrival of around two lakh tourists to Kashmir during September to November this year.
In a press release, KHARA President, Showkat Chowdhary while hailing the Department of Tourism for its efforts to attract tourists to Kashmir even in lean months of October and November. Showkat asked the Government to provide uninterrupted power and water supply to Gulmarg and Pahalgam during winter months.
“In the past, Kashmir registered minimal tourists’ arrivals during off season. But this year, about 1.5 lakh tourists visited valley during October and November. This is a good sign and augurs well for the future of tourism in Kashmir,” said Showkat. He lauded Director Tourism Kashmir, Talat Parvaiz in attracting tourists to the valley.
He asked the government to provide basic facilities to the tourists during winter months at Gulmarg and Pahalgam. He demanded regular snow clearance of the roads leading to Gulmarg for the smooth travel of the visitors.
