Court awards life imprisonment to murder accused

JAMMU, Dec 29: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge, Subash Gupta today awarded life-imprisonment to accused in murder case after 22 years long trial.
According to the police case, on March 7, 1990 one Jagar Mal alias Jagga, son of Dewan Chand of Khappar, R S Pura along with three other accused shot dead one Channa Singh, son of Ram Singh in his field where he was cutting grass along with his wife.
Accordingly, police registered a case under Section 302 RPC and after completion of investigation challan was presented in the court of law. In the case, three accused have already been sentenced while as Jagar Mal was absconding and produced in the court on April 1, 2010.
After hearing Advocate B L Kalgotra for the accused whereas App Ka Qazi for the State, 2nd Additional Sessions Judge observed, “there is absence of exceptional circumstances as such the case does not fall within the ambit of rarest of rare case”. With these observations, the Court awarded life imprisonment to the accused.
