SRINAGAR, Sept 3: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has opposed the proposed Government decision to impose tax on property in areas falling within Jammu and Srinagar municipal limits.
“It has been unanimously agreed that imposing any type of Property Tax on the people who have been suffering damages of all sorts over the past 25 years is unwise as it is based on rationale of structure reform being implemented in an assumed stable political social and security environment which is illusive,” the trade body said in a statement.
Appealing the Government to rescind its decision, the body said the development and economic paradigms cannot be seen as normal in the State.
“Therefore, even thinking of imposing any Property Taxes will be harmful and dangerous. So, the Government has to accept economic condition of the people has not improved to extent that they can be able to bear the tax levied in the property,” the KCCI said.
