JAMMU, June 19: Former Dy. Chief Minister and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta handed over one TVS Wego Scooty to a differently abled person, namely Kuldip Raj, resident of Langar, Ward-68 falling under Gandhi Nagar Constituency. Gupta handed over the two- wheeler to him in presence of officials of Social Welfare Department, many locals of the area including social and political activists as well.
The provision of such type of scooters to the physically challenged persons is covered through Social Welfare Department by State Rehabilitation Council (SRC), Gupta said in a statement issued today.
While congratulating the beneficiary, Gupta said that definitely the living standard and morale of the beneficiary will get boost. Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said that there are many schemes of the Social Welfare Department for up-lifting of the weaker sections. He said by these types of schemes the morale of the beneficiary is boosted and we have witnessed a drastic up-liftment of socio-economic conditions of the beneficiaries who were provided such type of scooter earlier.
He quoted the pension schemes, scholarship scheme, State marriage assistance program etc. He said that social workers from all the fields should come forward for helping such people of the society who are deprived of any type of amenity.
He also commended the efforts of Social Welfare Department as well and stated that there are certain schemes of Department as well under which disabled persons are provided with relief and stressed that social workers with the support of Department should locate such persons in the constituency and every possible help be provided to them through various schemes
District Social Welfare Officer, Ajay Salan, Baldev Blowria, Anil Kumar Councillor, Vinay Gupta, Harbans Singh, Darshan Grover, Capt (retd) Jameet Singh, Capt. (retd) Kehar Singh, Baldev Data, Raj Singh, Nanak Chand, Lokesh, Jyoti Parkash and several others were also present.
Ajay Salan DSWO, Jammu in his address said that the Social Welfare Department is always ready to support the needy person through the different schemes of the Government. He assured the gathering that all the pending cases of old age pensions and widow pensions shall be approved in phased manner. He said already we have sought the funds from the Government for early clearance of the cases.
