UDHAMPUR, June 19: Four school children, including two girls, struck in a rope way cradle over river Tawi in Chenani area, were rescued by police and locals after four hour long struggle today. Click here to watch video
Official sources said that these children were on way to their school in Pattangarh area when they were trapped for about four hours mid-way after some mechanical snag in the ropeway wooden cradle over the river. They included Shakti Devi student of class 3rd, Akshay Kumar Class 2nd, Pooja Devi Class 4th and Gyan Chand Class 2nd.
The people informed SHO , Chenani ParamJit Singh and SDM Abdul Sattar. The police team then reached the spot and with the help of locals of the area, the trapped children were rescued after four hour long struggle.
The locals said that it is long pending demand of the people of this area to construct bridge over river Tawi. But despite assurances by the former MLAs and DCs nothing has been done in this regard. They said it is not new thing, many times people get trapped in this old locally made wooden cradle over river Tawi.
