Mayor lays foundation stone of community toilet at Channi Ramma

JAMMU, June 19: Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Chander Mohan Gupta today laid the foundation stone for community toilet at Ladakh Culture and Art Centre in Ward number 49 under Swacch Bharat Mission scheme of Government of India.
The Mayor was accompanied by Councilor of the Ward Kamal Singh Jamwal, Executive Engineer JMC Arun Gupta and Anil Gupta AEE/Nodal Officer to Mayor JMC. The foundation stone was laid by the Mayor during his visit to the areas of Narwal, Channi Ramma and its adjoining areas in Ward number 49. He took stock of various development activities during the visit.
While laying foundation stone of community toilet at Ladakh Culture and Art Centre, the Mayor was informed that the construction of toilet complex will cost Rs 10.50 lakh and shall consist of 2 ladies and 3 gents toilet including 3 urinals and a caretaker room.
A large number of people particularly from Ladakh region use to visit the Culture and Art Centre throughout the year so toilet block was a major demand of the public. The community toilet shall be maintained by an NGO.
While speaking on the occasion, the Mayor reiterated his commitment for the development of Jammu city. He further said that the Jammu Municipal Corporation is undertaking a number of projects in the near future to uplift the face of Jammu so that more and more tourists can visit Jammu region and take back with them a lasting favourable and memorable impression.
Mayor directed the engineers and officers of JMC accompanying him to expedite the work of community toilet and others projects within time frame so that the inhabitants of Jammu city and tourists can take benefit of these projects.
