Kashmiri woman wins Panchayat poll in Gujarat

JAMMU, Dec 29: A Kashm-iri woman, originally hailing from Shopian district of  Kashmir Valley has made the people from J&K feel proud after she won the Gram Panchayat elections in Gujarat today.
Seema Boni, daughter of  Tosha Boni and H K Boni, has been elected as Panch from  the Gram Panchayat from village Nandaria and Bheempura, Tehsil Daboi in district Vadodra in Gujarat.
Seema, a teacher by profession is highly qualified and was involved in the social work activities  for the last over ten years in the area. She was motivated by the locals of the area to participate in the Gram Panchayat elections.
During early militancy period of early 90s, their family migrated to Jammu from Mamender village in Shopian in Kashmir. After the retirement her father , who was also a teacher by profession, they migrated to Vadodra city  and then to village Beempura, situated at the bank of river Narmada during 2006. She defeated her rival by the margin of 91 votes.
