Anayat reviews status of proposed KVKs, other projects for Kargil

JAMMU, Dec 29: Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali today reviewed the status and progress made with regard to the opening of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) in Kargil during a meeting with Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-Kashmir, Dr Nazir Ahmad.
It was informed that SKUAST-K (Satellite Campus Kargil) has submitted seven DPRs under KVK (TSP) Scheme.
The LC Chairman sought the details about the present status of the DPRs and the steps taken for the implementation of Yak Project for Kargil and Horse Project for Zanaskar.
Haji Anayat Ali asked the VC to project Kargil as the Apricot District in the country. He also called for improving the use and conservation of water in the district by introducing Drip and Sprinkle Irrigation.
The LC Chairman also stressed the need to explore the possibility of establishment of fruit and vegetable processing unit and construction of cold storage for fruits & vegetables in Kargil.
The Vice-Chancellor assured for early implementation of the decisions taken in the meeting.
Haji Anayat Ali urged upon the Vice Chancellor to take steps to make KVKs in Kargil as vibrant centres for the field research   so that the results can be applied for the benefit of the farmers.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan.
