SRINAGAR, Sept 3: The general election of the executive body of the High Court Bar Association will be held on Thursday at Sadder Court Srinagar here.
Eleven candidates are in the fray for different positions for executive body of the Bar.
Advocate G N Shaheen is contesting for presidential position against senior Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom; Advocate Aijaz Bedar, Bashir Ahmad Dar and Mushtaq Ahmad Pandit are contesting for vice-president; Abdul Majid Jahangir, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat for secretary; Aijaz Ahmad Dar, Anwar-ul-Islam Shaheen for joint secretary and Bilal Ahmad Wani will be opposite to Sheikh Haroon Rashid for treasurer.
Meanwhile, the election commission has requested all the lawyers to abstain from appearing before the courts on the date of election.
