RAJOURI, Sept 3: In a drive against illegal distillation and sale of illicit liquor, sleuths of Excise Range Rajouri conducted a series of raids and destroyed five working stills besides arresting two persons.
The raiding party, led by Excise Inspector Dr Sajad Majid under the supervision of Salam Din, Excise and Taxation Officer, Rajouri-Poonch Range, also destroyed 430 kg Lahan and seized 30 liters of illicit liquor.
The series of raids were conducted in village Chowki Jawahar Nagar, Lankaban, Kalakass, Narsingh Pura, Dalhori, Dani Dhar, Argi Chingus, Soughat, Panjpeer, Potha, Nowshera, Brow, Sanchal, Gharat, Borow, Gooni, Rajpur, Pathat, Sarnhoo and Grati in Rajouri district.
The arrested persons, identified as Sham Lal of Nowshera and Roop Lal of Chowki, have been booked under Excise Act.
