Junaid among 4 hurt in attack

SRINAGAR, Apr 29: Militants this evening attacked former Hizbul-Mujahideen spokesman, Junaid-ul-Islam, injuring him and three others at Sangrahama in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district this evening when he was travelling in a bus.
Police sources said that gunmen opened fire on a Matador (JK05-9135) on way from Pattan to Baramulla at Sangarhama this evening.
“Four persons were injured in the attack”, sources said, the injured have been immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Abdul Khaliq Dar alias Junaid-ul-Islam, son of Ghulam Qadir of Khanpora- former Hizb spokesman, Mohammad Rafiq son of Mohammad Sultan Wani of Khanpora, Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Hassan Sheikh and non-local Mohammad Sadam son of Mohammad Jabbar of Bihar. However, the two critically injured persons Abdul Khaliq and Mohammad Sadam were immediately removed to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment.
Army and special operation group (SOG) of police cordoned off the whole area and conducted searches of the area to nab the militants responsible for the attack.
A police spokesman here said at about 1900 hours today one unknown militant who was boarding a passenger Matadoor plying from Pattan towards Baramulla got off near Sangrahama and opened fire at very same matadoor he had boarded by the pistol he was possessing. “Four passengers including conductor of the bus”, the spokesman added.
