JAMMU, Sept 23: The Jammu University Syndicate and Finance Committee meetings were held today under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar wherein a number of important decisions were taken.
BB Vyas, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Administrative Secretary Finance Department, Financial Advisor JU attended the meetings.
In the 102nd meeting of the Syndicate, 66 agenda items were presented by JU Registrar Prof Manoj K Dhar. The deliberations were also held with regard to various service matters, amendment of Statutes, regulations of various funds especially students aid fund, staff requirements in various offices and modification in financial powers. One of the items on the agenda was the proposed Media Policy of the University, which was appreciated by the members who listed few suggestions for the incorporation before its finalization. Temporary and permanent affiliation to Non Government colleges/ institutions were granted. It was also recommended to start PG Diploma in Bio-Informatics in the School of Biotechnology. The authorization for implementation of CCIM notifications (Minimum standards of Education in India Medicine) was also accorded. Similarly, guidelines for conducting written examinations for persons with disabilities issued by Department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GoI was also endorsed. Introduction of Pharmacy Subject in the University of Jammu and starting of B Pharmacy course in the affiliated colleges was endorsed.
Earlier, Finance Committee meeting of the University was also held wherein the revised budget estimates 2012-13 and budget estimates 2013-14 were endorsed. New budget heads were created for other expenses for which the State Government will be approached for sanction of the grants. Confirmation of six Asst Professors was also endorsed.
The Syndicate meeting was attended by Prof Anima Langer, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, Prof Sheikh Javid Ahmad, Dean Faculty of Physical and Material Sciences, University of Kashmir, Prof Syeda Rukaya, Dean, Faculty of Oriental Learning, University of Kashmir, Dr Sameru Sharma, Principal, Government College of Engineering & Technology, Prof. Jigar Mohammed, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof Geeta Sumbli, Head Department of Botany, Prof K K Sharma, Head Department of Zoology, Prof M S Bhat, University of Kashmir and Jaikumar Sharma, Special Secretary to VC.
