JAMMU, Aug 9: The executive body of Jammu University Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Employees Association discussed the reservation issues and appealed the Vice-Chancellor to personally look into the matter.
In a meeting, they alleged that officers in the Administration Branch have several times changed the Reservation Roster in respect of all categories of employees with an object to deprive the SC/STs of the promotional benefits meant for them under the Reservation Act. They also alleged that no representation has ever been provided to SC/STs in the competent bodies of the University like University Council, Syndicate, Academic Council and Establishment Committee despite repeated instructions from the UGC.
The Association members resolved to dissociate themselves from the Non-Teaching Employees Union if the latter does not support their struggle started for the protection of reservation rights granted to them under the Constitution.
The Association also conveyed its resentment over a letter issued recently by the JU Assistant Registrar (Establishment) to know the identity of the Association office-bearer.
Prominent among others present in the meeting included Mulkh Raj, Surjeet Singh Heer, Om Parkash, Paras Ram, B R Angral, Sukhdev Bhagat, Kunj Lal, Raj Singh, Vijay Kumar and Sunil Kumar.
