JAMMU, Sept 12: Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) who are protesting for 345 days held a demonstration at Jagti township under the leadership of its president, Shadi Lal Pandita.
Addressing the protesters, Pandita said that the migrant relief holders have not yet received the monthly cash relief for the month of August due to which the relief holders are in a very difficult situation. Pandita asked the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner to take effective steps in paying the relief to displaced people who are facing many hardships.
He said there is so pathetic situation in some families who are totally dependent on cash doles from Government that they have no money even to purchase the life saving medicines.
He said the Relief Rehabilitation Commissioner had assured that the relief issue of month August will be resolved in two to three days. He warned that if the Relief for the month of August was not released within four days, thousands of Kashmiri Pandits will be forced to protest on the National Highway, in front of Press Club Jammu and also in front of Raj Bhawan at Jammu.
Pandita said that JTC and SKF activists have been protesting for 345 days but the Government is still not meeting their demands which should be resolved as soon as possible. He said that the inflation is so high because of which the relief holders are not making both ends meet. He reiterated the demand regarding enhancement of monthly cash relief from Rs13,000 to Rs 25,000 and settlement of other genuine demands of Kashmiri Pandits including their permanent settlement by carving out three townships in three districts of Kashmir Valley.
