JAMMU, July 13: As per directions of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner, a team of Health Section of JMC along with Sanitation Officers, Assistant Sanitation Officers, Sanitary Inspectors and Sanitary Supervisors of JMC conducted intensive drive for checking illegal use of Single Use Plastic (SUP)/polythene.
The JMC team seized 10 kg SUP items and 100 kg polythene and fined the violators of Rs. 19400.
The Health Officer of JMC has appealed to the general public to extend cooperation in curbing the illegal use of SUP items which is a penalizing offence under Solid Waste Management Rules 2016.
In a handout JMC hoped to meet challenge together with the general public to make environment sustainable and eco-friendly.
