JKTJAC highlights issues, demands of teaching fraternity

UDHAMPUR, June 4: Monthly meeting of Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) was held here today under the leadership of UT President Vinod Sharma and District President Lekh Raj Parihar.
During the meeting, which was attended by the JKTJAC representatives from all the eleven zones of the district, Vinod Sharma highlighted the genuine and burning issues of the teaching fraternity and appealed LG and Principal Secretary School Education for the resolution of the same.
Highlighting the burning issue of Transfer policy for teachers appointed under ReT scheme, he demanded the provision of comprehensive transfer policy in their favour . He said that these teachers have been working in the same schools for last more than 20 years even after the clear directions from High Court and CAT that they be transferred within the district like General Line Teachers. “But in absence of Transfer policy thousands of these teachers including females are suffering badly” he said and demanded inclusion of these teachers in ATD.
Demanding regularisation of ReTs who have completed 5 years ReT period, he said that they are waiting for their regularisation for a long time and suffering badly.
The meet also highlighted several others demands, such as conversion of RRETs to Teachers Grade II/III; conversion of EVs to ReTs, Headteachers posts into non plan posts of Masters to resolve the salary issue; raising Grade of teachers at par with their counter parts in other UTs; filling up of vacant posts of CEOs / Principals/ZEOs/Headmasters, adjustment of newly promoted teachers to Masters and raising Grade of teachers promoted as Incharge Lectures at par with their counterparts promoted from Masters.
The meet also appealed Director School Education Jammu to change school timing of winter zones of Jammu Province from 10.00 am -4.00 pm to 9:00 am -3.00 pm.
Speaking on the occasion District President Lekh Raj Parihar demanded the release of pending dues of Mid Day Meals for the year 2022-23 which the teachers have managed from their own pockets.
Others who also spoke on the occasion, included Sham Sharma, Sukesh Khajuria, Ashok Seth, Pritam Goswami, Sandeep Sharma, Rakesh Singh, Suresh Sharma, Vijay Sadhotra, Jagdish Chander Sharma and Anil Sharma.
