JAMMU, Dec 1: The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) has demanded re-polling at all the four polling stations of Poshana village in Bafliaz block of Surankote in Poonch district.
In a letter flashed to the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Hirdesh Kumar Singh, party president- Sayed Mohd Altaf Bukhari said that in Bafliaz block of Surankote Sub Division, District Election authorities had notified four polling stations for Poshana village for Nov 28, 2020 DDC elections. However, these polling stations were brazenly shifted to some isolated place along Mughal Road in the morning on the day of election, without any prior notification from the concerned District Election Officer. Not only this, no consent was taken from the contesting candidates for concerned officials.
Bukhari further added that as per ground reports Poshana village comprised of two Panchayats and have 2200 registered voters, who have already migrated to various parts of Poonch and Rajouri districts due to snowfall and severe cold consitions there. There was minimal presence of villagers at Poshana on the polling day.
“Since the polls were conducted in some makeshift tents under the sky, about one kilometer away from Poshana, it has been learnt that some fake voters were ferried from some adjacent areas at the behest of a regional political party in connivance of some officials,” Bukhari alleged.
The JKNP leader demanded a probe into the whole matter and conduct of re-polling at these four stations of Poshana in Surankote for ensuring free, fair and transparent electoral process in the Jammu and Kashmir.
