Srinagar, Jan 3: Scores of J&K Bank job aspirants today missed their scheduled examination for the posts of Banking Association due to the snowfall early in the morning and later staged a protest demanding re-examination.
The aspirants said that they could not make it to their respective examination centres in Srinagar due to the snowfall as the transport was not available on the roads that were blocked and slippery throughout.
However, the aspirants who had left their homes early in the morning managed to reach late to their examination centre; but, they said that they were not allowed into the examination hall.
“We were not allowed to the centres for being late and there should be re-examination for all those aspirants who missed the examination scheduled in the morning shift,” said an aspirant who identified himself as Yasir.
Most of the aspirants who had to reach Srinagar and other few centres established by the bank Budgam and Sopore from far off areas have missed the exam, while many had to pay huge amounts to the cab drivers, however, but despite the efforts, they could not reach on time.
A youth who was supposed to sit in the exam in Srinagar said that he paid Rs 1500 to a cab driver and despite that, he reached 15 minutes late and was not allowed to enter the exam hall.
“We are not at fault as it happened all due to the weather, there was not even any prediction of snowfall for the day; we tried but could not reach the exam venue, our case should be considered,” the aspirants demanded.
On the contrary, the Bank officials have maintained that the traffic was running smoothly on the roads and that majority of candidates had reached on time to sit in the examination.
Notably, even those who reached the exam on time had to suffer a lot, while as many had to leave their vehicles midway due to slippery conditions and walk to the examination centre.
