PULWAMA, Jan 3: In order to streamline the working and elimination of fraudulent practices and in view of prima facie major discrepancies, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer has recommended the Govt to conduct a special audit of all cooperative societies in the district.
The district administration has also recommended action under rules against erring officers/officials of the department for improper monitoring /functioning of the cooperative societies in the district.
In pursuant to the inspection and complaints against the Cooperative Fair Price Medical Shops in the district regarding under reporting of sales and non-providing of fixed discounts on the medicines to the customers besides other violations of Drug and Cosmetic Act 1940 , a high level committee was constituted by District Administration to seek an in depth enquiry regarding the matter. The committee found various discrepancies in the functioning of Cooperative Society Pulwama. The committee has also found mismatching of actual and reported sales figures by the Cooperative fair price shop Pulwama.
Notwithstanding the extant instructions/guidelines; the enquiry committee found absence of inventorization of stock, keeping of multiple accounts and non- maintenance of purchase invoices.
In this regard Deputy Commissioner has requested the Administrative Deptt for conducting a time bound special audit of all Cooperative Societies functioning in the district thus reviving and rejuvenating the Cooperative Societies in Pulwama besides fulfilling the goals for which they have been established.
