SRINAGAR, Oct 12: The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of Government employee leaders today threatened to launch fresh agitation after Eid to press for their demands which include regularization of daily wagers and enhancement of retirement age.
“We won’t compromise on our side, as we are demanding our rights,” JCC, president Abdul Qayoom Wani, told a press conference here this afternoon.
Wani said that the employees will fight against the Government over its irresponsible stand against the employees. “We are agitating against the Government’s false promises,” he said.
Terming the rulers of State as dictators, Wani said that some politicians and bureaucrats have turned the State into a colony ruled under “Police Raj”, but the employees will not bow before them.
Wani lambasted the Government for boasting what he termed as “Ikhwani Culture” to harass employees. He said: “JCC leaders’ salute the courage of 4.5 lakh employees of the State for raising their voice against the injustice done to them.”
The employees are demanding enhancement of employees retirement age from 58 to 60 years and regularization of daily-wager, casual workers and removal of pay anomalies. However, Government recently said on the floor of Legislative Assembly that they have already fulfilled all the demands of employees. However, they said that enhancement of retirement age needs consensus among all the political parties before Government can take any final decision.
