SRINAGAR, July 7: An Army jawan was killed and another injured this morning during a firing incident in Central Kashmir’s district of Ganderbal.
An Army officer said that one jawan was killed while another was injured in firing incident at Safapora in Ganderbal district today. He said a court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Sepoy B Venkataiah while the injured was Havaldar Manohar Singh.
Sources said it was an incident of fratricide in which one jawan shot at and injured his colleague before committing suicide.
Police said they have taken cognizance of the incident and are awaiting a report from the Army for further proceedings in the case.
