KATHUA, Nov 3: Giving a further boost to various ongoing Central schemes in the Kathua constituency, BJP MLA Rajiv Jasrotia today distributed authority letters under PMAY and SBM. He handed over 58 authority letters under PMAY amounting Rs 95.70 lakh and Rs 1.65 lakh under SBM at an impressive awareness programme held at Kathua as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).
Speaking on the occasion, MLA said that such schemes of the Government have been designed to help the poor and marginalized communities. He said that the most affected people due to non availability of clean toilet facilities is the poor women who are always prone to various type of diseases as a result of this. Moreover, this also adds up to the pollution and various types of diseases also spread as a result of which children also get infected.
He also highlighted the fact that this is a very noble mission launched by the visionary Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He said that Prime Minister has a dream of achieving total sanitation for all Indians and way he and his team is working, the day to realize this is not far off. He called upon the local people present on the occasion to be active part of such Government schemes and emphasized that without peoples participation such schemes cannot achieve the desired results. He said that such incentives always encourage local people to make efforts to have better toilet facilities in their localities. Local people present on the occasion assured their full support to MLA for successful implementation of schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission. They also took pledge on the occasion to ensure cleanliness of their respective localities.
Reiterating his commitment to provide better civic amenities to the people, Rajiv Jasrotia said that massive development activities have been launched in Kathua constituency to ensure safe drinking water, better sewerage, lanes and drains and hygienic surroundings in every nook and corner of the State. This he said while interacting with the people after inaugurating lane and drain work at villages Bhajwal, Khokhiyal, Taraf Bala (Nagri), protection wall at village Goond, renovation of Bowli at Dharralan village with an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh.
Prominent among those present on the occasion include City Mandal Pardhan Vidya Sagar, Sarpanch Anil Singh, Sarpanch Khokhiyal, general secretary Jagdish Poonia, general secretary Ravi Andotra, Tara Saini, Devi Sing besides prominent persons of the area.
