JAMMU, Nov 3: In a petition filed by Bodh Raj and others seeking strict implementation of SRO 105 issued by Department of Industries and Commerce regarding brick kilns operating in Jammu, Samba and Kathua, High Court today directed the Deputy Commissioners of these districts to submit report giving details of brick kilns functioning in their respective jurisdictions and whether the requisite environment clearance has been granted in their favour after proper scrutiny by the District Environment Impact Assessment Authority.
When the petition came-up for hearing, Advocate Ankur Sharma submitted that petitioners highlighted the issue as to how some of the brick kilns are functioning without the requisite environment clearance in terms of SRO-105 dated 31.03.2016, which is required to be issued by the concerned District Environment Impact Assessment Authority.
“The petitioners had given details of some of the brick kilns in their representation to the concerned Deputy Commissioners but no action has been taken till date”, he further submitted.
After hearing counsel for the petitioners, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur directed Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Samba and Kathua to submit report giving the details of the brick kilns functioning in their respective jurisdiction and also state as to whether environment clearance has been granted in their favour.
