JAMMU, Apr 6: The Core Group of Tibetan Cause-India has formed its Jammu Kashmir Tibetan Support Group in the Union Territory of J&K.
This was informed by Phonsok Ladakhi, Regional Convenor of Core Group for Tibetan Cause-India, while addressing a press conference in Jammu, here today.

“Objective of Jammu Kashmir Tib-etan Support Group is to garner more grassroot support and creating awareness on Tibet among people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
This group will be led by eminent personalities of Jammu and Kashmir, like Rajinder Singh Raina, former director of Doordarshan, Amjad Pervez Mirza, retired IPS officer; Prof Tsering Tundom, Darshan Nagar, retired Bank Manager and others.
“Even as there are around 140 Tibetan Support Groups across India, Jammu Kashmir had no one till date to highlight the issues of Tibetan people who are being subjected to human rights violation and denied freedom by the Chinese regime ,” said Phonsok Ladakhi.
He informed that focus of J&K Tibetan Support Group is on launching Tibet awareness lecturers for students and intellectuals, facilitate workshops to discuss the human rights violations in Tibet.
Mr Phonsok also highlighted the role of core group for Tibetan Cause-India, which has been established to work as an independent think tank, a common representative group and as the central coordinating body of all Tibet Support groups in India. It comprises of prominent Indian individuals who are engaged in and committed towards the cause of Tibet, expand and help the Tibetans to regain their freedom and national dignity, expand the support base and pressurize China to stop environmental vandalism in Tibet.
