JAMMU, Sept 11: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla has alleged that resentment and repentance are the two gifts BJP has given to people of Jammu region leaving them in lurch with their shattered dreams.
Addressing a public meeting at  Preet Nagar in Gandhinagar  constituency here today, Mr Bhalla said that he is highly pained to see the mounting problems of  common man with every passing day with no immediate sign of relief in sight.  It is unfortunate that elected representatives have miserably failed to represent the burning issues of people before the concerned authorities with a result they are cutting sorry figure now as why they elected them to power, Bhalla added.
He alleged that callousness of `coalition partners’ has reached to such an extent that people are forced to bear the brunt of non availability of basic amenities like water, electricity and ration. One can assess the governance and credibility of  Govt among people. Roads are in bad shape, law and order situation is going from bad to worst. The policies of the Coalition resulted terrorists making their presence felt in Jammu region also. Not only this, the anti- social activities are gaining momentum.
Accusing BJP of having sold its every single slogan and its fundamentals for power, former minister said it bargained the pride and honour of people of Jammu region to satisfy its lust for power. Tall announcements made by the BJP during elections regarding empowerment of Jammu, delimitation of Assembly constituencies, end of discrimination against Jammu region and ensuring it equitable treatment, issuance of  Dogra certificate to Jammu youth, grant of State Subject rights to West Pak Refuges, abolition of Custodian Department and conferment of ownership rights to its occupants, right to vote in Assembly elections and local bodies to WPRs, reservation of 5 seats for PoJK migrants and 3 seats for Kashmir migrants, 33 per cent reservation for women in Assembly, State subject and property rights to children of daughters of J&K married outside with non state subjects etc  fell flat with hardly any initiative taken by BJP to ensure their incorporation in the Agenda of Alliance, Mr Bhalla maintained.
Some people also joined the party during the public meeting and Mr Bhalla welcomed them all.
