JAMMU, May 28: Expressing dismay over the performance of BJP ministers and legislatures, president of the Jammu Development Council, Inderjeet Khajuria today said that people of the region have lost hope to see an end to the discrimination as the so called champion of Jammu have completely surrendered before Kashmir centric PDP for lust of power.
In a press statement, Mr Khajuria said that the winding up of summer secretariat in Jammu is a glaring example of the BJP surrendering to the Kashmiri leadership. It was decade old practice that camp secretariat would work in the absence of full secretariat to felicitate the people of the Jammu region, who cannot afford to visit Kashmir but the BJP supported Government has taken away this facility from Jammuites, which is a great injustice, he added.
Referring to the promises made during electioneering, Mr Khajuria further said that the Jammuites were feeling offended due to betrayal and cheating by the BJP as they dropped all those issues once they entered in wedlock with Kashmir centric PDP to form the coalition Government. Abrogation of Article 370, PoK refugees issue, conferring citizenship rights to West Pakistani refugees, KPs settlement issue, delimitation of constituencies and de-freezing of 24 seats reserved for PoK refugees are among the issues, which the party legislatures have completely forgotten for the sake of power, which is straight away cheating with Jammuites, he alleged.
Quoting more examples, he said that AIIMS was allotted to Jammu but shifted to Kashmir while prestigious project like artificial lake on Tawi was also shelved for no reason. Other projects like cable-car project, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex and promotion of Border Tourism at Suchetgarh are lying in shambles with no development due to BJP’s Kashmir centric policies, he rued.
