NAGROTA, Apr 18: Describing Jammu Declaration a robust and forward looking concept to empower the people with equal and participatory role in the decision making, National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said that it should be win-win situation for all, with no region or sub-region having hegemony over the other.
“The declaration will break the conservative path of tackling the urges and aspirations of the people at large and pave the way for a progressive mechanism to ensure that no region or section of the society nurtures sense of deprivation or discrimination”, the Provincial President said while interacting with the people at Chibba, Surinsar, Sagoon, Chilla, Nagola and Polsar in Nagrota.
Apart from a large number of devotees, prominent among those present included Councillor DDC Dansal- Shamim Begum, BDC Nagrota Ch Rehmat Ali, Sarpanch, Ashwani Kumar, Naib Sarpanch Puran Chand, Subash Singh, Shailo Ram and others.
Earlier, Rana participated in the Jankhi procession taken out on the observance of the annual Sthapana Diwas of Baba Bhagtan Sad Temple at Thandapani in Panchayat Chibba of Nagrota assembly constituency.
He expressed satisfaction over the concept getting overwhelming support from the cross section of people, primarily for being apolitical and inclusive in essence. He said new thoughts and ideas were pouring in to make the declaration a way forward for steering Jammu and Kashmir to an era of peace and progress with mutual trust and amity forming the core of its existence.
He hoped that people would rise above politics and work towards restoring the inclusive character of Jammu and Kashmir. The declaration is a way forward in strengthening religious bonds among communities besides reinforcing trust and unity between diverse regions.
Rana said the declaration, emanating from the pluralistic region of Jammu, will encourage all the religions, and ethnic groups, regions and sub-regions to unite and work for the common cause of making the life of people better. It actually represents the idea of J&K and will engage the people in inter-region and intra-regional dialogue to bridge the fault-lines that have unfortunately surfaced due to trust deficit over the years.
Rana said this spirit was hugely on display during three decades ago when Duggarland opened up its arms for all those in distress, irrespective of religion or caste, he asserted.
“There is immense need for bridging the gap between the two regions and within the regions and their sub-regions; between religious and ethnic groups and between different shades of opinion. Intra-regional and inter-region dialogue based on mutual respect and love has assumed immense significance in the wake of misplaced suspicions gaining ground across the country. Therefore, a collective effort is needed to find out the genesis of the unfounded suspicions and to suggest ways and means for course correction. He said sooner such initiatives are set in motion, the better it would be for heralding a new era of trust, understanding and spirit of inclusiveness among peoples.
Baba Manmohan Dass Ji Mahraj also spoke on the occasion and exhorted the people to strive for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, which, he described, as the essence of every religion.
