SRINAGAR, Mar 27: Income Tax Department today carried out survey in the establishment of a tobacco products’ wholesaler in Baramulla town.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that on the basis of credible information that tobacco products’ wholesaler namely Owais Makhnoo was evading tax during the past quite long time, the sleuths of the Income Tax Department conducted survey in his business establishment this morning.
During the survey, fudging of sales and profits to avoid payment of income tax was detected and all the documents relating to sales and purchase were impounded for detailed scrutiny.
“More such surveys are likely in other parts of Kashmir valley in the coming days”, sources said while disclosing that during the past few months searches and raids were conducted in the premises of several top businessmen in different districts of Kashmir province.
