Mahore/Gool, Mar 31: Union Health & Family Welfare Minister and Congress candidate from Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat, Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that BJP was exploiting people on the false-hood for grabbing power while the Congress party’s development agenda and achievements are the truth before the people of the country.
Addressing public meetings at Mahore, Bhudan, Chhajru, Harog, Gool and Sangaldan today, Mr Azad said, “this battle (of ballot) is in fact between the lies of BJP and the truth of Congress Party. The BJP and its leaders (Modi) are carrying poll campaign on falsehood and lies, projecting wrong picture of Congress Party while the Congress has been going to the people on the development plank, which is real truth.”
The AICC leader said today you see rail project to Kashmir via Katra-Reasi and Gool-Sangaldan area. Over 20,000 crore funding has been providing by the Congress led UPA Government for it. Rs 9000 4-lane National Highway project from Jammu to Srinagar is also the gift of UPA Government to the people of this State. Over 40 % work has been completed on this 4-laning project. These projects would raise the economic condition of the people of this mountainous region and also expose the area to tourists. There is great tourism potential here which is needed to be explored, Mr Azad added.
Launching scathing attack on BJP and PDP for false propaganda to hoodwink gullible masses, Mr Azad said it is Congress which has developed infrastructure in every nook and corner of the country. He reminded that after independence Congress leadership with the visionary agenda had launched massive development campaign in the country and it was the result of that campaign that infrastructure has been developed all over the country. He said that Opposition has launched a false propaganda against Congress but this malicious campaign is not going to give any political dividends to them.
While playing emotional chord with the residents of this hilly and mountainous region of Mahore and Gool, Mr Azad said being native of this area he was well aware of the problems of the locals. He said that health, education and road connectivity area his focused areas and sought mandate of the people to further accelerate the pace of development work in this region.
Referring to the decision of his Ministry to sanction three Medical colleges in Jammu region Mr Azad said that this decision was taken keeping in view the topography of the area. He hoped that with the setting up of these Medical Colleges, better health facilities would be provided to the people of Jammu region. He highlighted the achievements of the UPA Government and said that Government has given new dimensions to the health sector but all development fields have witnessed a discernible change during past ten years. He reminded that India has been declared a polio-free country and it was the result of the efforts of those who worked day and night to eradicate this disease from the country.
The Union Minister also counted the achievements registered in the State adding that the funding under NRHM in J&K has been doubled. The schemes like JSSK, JSY have greatly helped in improving institutionalized deliveries thus reducing maternal and infant mortality rate. Besides, 1100 Asha workers have been engaged and 350 health institutions have been taken up for construction and two maternity hospitals are being constructed.
Calling upon people to strengthen secular and democratic forces in the Lok Sabha elections, Mr Azad cautioned the people against divisive forces which are hell bent to create hatred to reap political benefit. He said development agenda is the main poll plank of Congress party and on this plank, Congress would seek vote from the people.
Minister of State for Revenue Aijaz Khan, former Minister and NC legislator Abdul Ghani Malik also addressed rallies.
