KATHUA, Sept 15: The irate residents of Chhan Rorian and adjoining villages today blocked the Jammu Pathankote National Highway for 45 minutes this afternoon in protest against the water scarcity in the area.
The protesters raising slogans against the PHE Department warned to continue the Highway blockade in case the water problems was not solved immediately.
They alleged that the PHE authorities have failed to redress the problem despite repeated pleas and requests. The protesters warned the authorities of serious consequences for their rigid attitude and callousness.
The road blockade was lifted later on the assurance of SDM, SDPO and other officers of Hiranagar.
The people in this belt and other villages of North Kathua including Sonthali village and Kachhipur are facing water scarcity for a pretty long time but the PHE authorities are totally sleeping over the issue.
