Irate mob sets truck carrying bovines on fire, holds protest

RAMBAN, June 27: The irate mob set a truck carrying bovine animals on fire in Khow Bagh area of the district, here today.
As per police sources, people saw a truck bearing registration number JK02AP-5226 carrying bovines towards Kashmir in T Chowk area and intercepted it.
The irate mob firstly rescued around 25 cattle from the vehicle at Khow Bagh and later set the truck on fire. However, the truck driver managed to escape from the spot.
As mob set the truck on fire at Khow Bagh area, the vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway came to standstill.
The people alleged that police is promoting bovines smuggling in lieu of money, which they will not allow.
After getting information, officials from District Administration and senior officers of Police Department rushed to the spot and pacified the agitating people.
Later, the protesting people dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the highway.
