Invited by both Prez and Modi for swearing-in: Omar

SRINAGAR :  Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said he has been invited by both President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi to attend the latter’s swearing-in ceremony.
“I have been invited as the Chief Minister by the President. I have received a card from the President as well as a letter by Modi,” Omar told reporters.
Yesterday Omar took to micro-blogging site twitter.Com saying he had not yet received the invitation for Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.
Asked if he would be attending the function, Omar said “If Prime Minister of Pakistan can travel all the way from Islamabad, then CM of J-K should also participate in what could possibly be a beginning of an important phase for Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Omar said there will perhaps be no time for any substantive discussions between Modi and those attending the function in the Union capital on Monday.
“I have no illusions about the fact that any substantive discussions will take place with any of us attending the swearing in ceremony. There is enough time for the state government to start talking to the people (at Centre).
“Let the Foreign Minister, Defence Minister, Home Minister and others assume office and then we will start talking to them about the matters that really matter for people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added. (AGENCIES)
