Investigate cases under NDPSA, POCSO Act carefully: DGP to cops

JAMMU, Feb 29: Investigate minor and the minutest details of rape, POCSO Act and NDPS cases to ensure fair trial and conviction of involved persons.
This was stated by DGP Dilbag Singh, who was chief guest at the workshop titled “Investigation of NDPS and Rape/POCSO Act case and CCTNS” organized by J&K Crime Branch Police here today.

DGP said that NDPS Act and Rape/Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act cases are matter of concern for all of us and stressed upon the officers to take due care and investigate minor and the minutest details of these cases so that desired results are achieved.
He directed the officers to make utmost use of this workshop and see where we lack and identify the inadequacies and plug the loopholes adding that J&K police personnel have the capability to fill these gaps. This will help in increasing the conviction rates in these cases, he added.
He impressed upon the SDPOs/DySPs/SHOs to be very careful in investigating these cases. The DGP said that required equipment and all possible help will be provided by Police Headquarters.
IGP Crime J&K MK Sinha said it is first of its kind workshop in Jammu and Kashmir and the idea is to sensitize the SHOs and IOs regarding the best practices for investigating rape, POCSO Act and NDPS cases. He also stressed for making optimum use of CCTNS services saying that it is being monitored and reviewed at national level.
The IGP gave a detailed power point presentation regarding the procedures to be followed while investigating rape, POCSO Act and NDPS cases. He impressed upon the officers to follow all the investigating procedures minutely to ensure professional investigation and successful prosecution of these cases.
A team of officers of NCB comprising of Deepak Kumar, Satish Kumar and Kapil gave lectures on various provisions of law and procedures of investigation. Inspector, Showket Ahmad, Incharge CCTNS Crime Headquarters spoke on importance and use of CCTNS.
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by SSP Crime Headquarters J&K, Shalinder Singh, who also conducted the proceedings.
ADGPs, A.K Chowdhary, Deepak Kumar, S.J M Gillani, IGPs Mukesh Singh, Danish Rana, Alok Kumar, DG Prosecution SA Mujtaba, SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil, AIGs of PHQ, SSP PCR Jammu, SSP Traffic, all SHO of Jammu Zone and officers from Crime Headquarters and PHQ attended the workshop.
