Intrusion bid foiled in Mendhar

JAMMU, Nov 5: Army last night foiled an infiltration attempt by the militants on the Line of Control at forward area of Deri Dabsi in Mendhar sector of Poonch district.
Official sources said the troops observed movement of a group of four to five militants trying to sneak into the Indian territory from the LoC in forward area of Deri Dabsi at 9 pm last night.
The troops opened firing to neutralize the militants, who retreated to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) after offering resistance for about 20 minutes. The alert troops thwarted the militants’ plot to infiltrate.
There was, however, no ceasefire violation from Pakistan Army during the infiltration attempt, sources said.
Army spokesman S N Acharya said there was no incident of firing on the LoC yesterday.
