BARAMULLA, Mar 15: The administration today asked the management of SRM Welkin Educational Trust of Sopore in North Kashmir to start inquiry against its driver for not dropping the students of Chogal village at the designated stop.
The Chief Education Officer Baramulla, Balbir Singh, passed an order after parents lodged a complaint, accusing the school administration of not providing the bus service at the designated stop at Chogal village of north Kashmir and harassment of children. “You are advised to enquire the matter and redress the grievance within three days,” the order stated.
The parents said that they had repeatedly raised the issue with the school administration but to no avail. “Despite multiple requests they did not bother about it,” a parent said.
The parents said that their children missed the first two days of school as the buses did not arrive at the designated spots. “My children were attending school after a gap of a year because of COVID-19, but missed the first two days as buses did not arrive,” a parent said.
They alleged the drivers are refusing to pick up children at the designated spots and are asking them to walk around 2- kilometres. “The driver wants the students to wait at Kulangam bridge, which is highly dangerous for children. The stray dogs and wild animals like bear, frequently pass through the area and that puts the children more vulnerable,” they said, adding that they request the authorities to look into the matter.
