KATHUA, June 23: An outreach programme/interactive session with DDOs falling in Kathua district was conducted at Conference Room of DC office by MB Raizada Income Tax Officer (ITO) Kathua under the overall supervision of Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar, MP Singh and under the guidance of Rajeev Gubgotra, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-1 Jammu.
The Conference was attended by all the DDOs of district Kathua through offline and virtual mode also. The Session was also attended by Deepika Rana (ADDC Kathua), Ranjit Singh (DC Sales Tax), PL Thapa (Chief Education Officer Kathua), Uttam Singh (Chief Planning Officer Kathua) and a large number of DDOs of district Kathua.
The primary agenda of the outreach programme was to address various issues faced by the Income Tax Department, specifically focusing on fraudulent/fake deduction and claimed TDS refund made by income tax payers in their returns of income.
During the interactive session, the ITO Kathua emphasized the seriousness of the complications arising from false and fabricated claims made by large number of employees and said that such actions qualifies for severe action under Income Tax Act, 1961 & IPC in the form of heavy fines. It is therefore essential for all fraudulent claimants to file the ITR -U (updated return) to avoid any legal actions from the Income Tax Department, he added.
Furthermore, it was also advised by ITO Kathua that all tax payers should submit their annual returns well in advance of the closing date i.e., 31st July 2023. “This will help in ensuring compliance with the income tax regulations and avoid any unnecessary penalties or actions,” he said and urged all the DDOs and staff members to adhere to the guidelines provided by the Income Tax Department and fulfill their income tax obligations honestly and accurately.
A Questions-Answer session was also organized in order to make DDOs and their employees comfortable and queries raised by different persons were addressed by ITO Kathua. He also apprised them of their duties and responsibilities towards the nation building.
