UDHAMPUR, Nov 8: Believe it or not, at a time when the nation is marching towards digital India there is a hamlet in J&K which still lacks electricity and the school going children have to burn wood for studying at night.
The unfortunate village here is Bararia of Panchayat Johad in district Udhampur which is yet to get electricity.
Suchila, 13, a school going girl of Bararia said there is no light in her village due to which her education has been badly affected and same is the case of other children there.
Studying near the light of burning woods she appealed to the Prime Minister Modi to get electricity in her village as there are many like her who will be benefitted by that.
Rajinder Kumar, 20, of the same village said children face a lot of problems in their studies as in day time they can easily study their books but when the darkness of evening ascends the children of the village face problems in doing their home work.
He informed that poles were erected in the village but no development followed after that.
“As oil is also not available in our village we burn woods to make a light near which the children do their home work,” he maintained adding that the administration should do something in this regard so that the villagers may heave a sigh of relief.
