In a first, Kashmir gets JEE Advanced Examination Centres

SRINAGAR, Sept 17: In a first, J&K administration has managed to get two Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Advanced Examination Centres in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier the examination centres for the JEE used to be in Jammu and Chandigarh, however, Kashmir getting the centres for the conduct of online examination is happening for the first time.
Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary told Excelsior that there will be two such examination centres in Srinagar.
“There are now two such examination centres in Srinagar, one is at Rangreth and another one is at Sanatnagar,” he said.
The examination is scheduled to be held on September 27 across the country.
Pertinent to mention here that scores of students staged a protest and had demanded that there should be at least one such examination centre in Kashmir in the wake of pandemic.
Even several parents had stated that there would be a greater risk in travel in the middle of a pandemic. After the demands, the Government had also assured that the issue will be taken up with the concerned authorities.
