JAMMU, Oct 15: On the eve of “Vishwakarma Pooja Celebrations”, Pradesh Vishwakarma Shabha (PVS) J&K took out an impressive Shobha Yatra in the city here ,today under the supervision of Shashi Verma, president of the Sabha.

The Shobha Yatra was flagged off by Rashpal Verma, Vice Chairman OBC Advisory Board, Kuldeep Raj Verma , former V.C OBC Advisory Board , RL Chargotra , vice president , Akhil Bhartya Vishwakarma Mahasabha. A team headed by Ravi Vishwakarma from Madhya Pradesh and Balbir Singh Lal, from Ludhiana also graced the event.
People from all parts of Jammu province including children and women participated in the Shobha Yatra. Chanting of “Jai Vishwakarma” and singing of bhajans on the slow moving trolleys added religious touch to the Shobha Yatra. Total of five ” Jhankis” travelled through the city roads passing through Canal Road, Jewal Chowk, Gummat, Raghunath Bazar, City Chowk, Shalamar, Indira Chowk, K.C Chowk and culminated back in the Vishwakarma Temple Gurha Bakshi Nagar. Community Langer was also arranged by the Sabha.
Shobha Yatra depicted various scenes of Lord Vishwakarma like making of Trishul for Lord Shiva, Sudershan Chakra for Lord Krishna, making of Golden Lanka for Ravana, making of Ram Setu etc. RC Angotra and Puran Chargotra,( former presidents of PVS) who were present in the Shobha Yatra stated that taking out of Vishwakarma Shobha Yatra, every year is a tradition and Vishwakarma Sabha (PVS) is striving to keep it up.
They further added that the response of all sections of society, especially those associated with industry and technical jobs is appreciable.
Shashi Verma, president of the Sabha said that Vishwakarma Day will be celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety, in each Vishwakarma Temple, on October 20 , the day following Diwali. He reiterated the demand of a gazetted holiday on Vishwakarma Day. He explained that a virtual holiday is existing since long on the day. Everyone including industrialists, saw mill owners, brick kilns, building material & marble dealers, political circles, mechanics, labour and artists, Government departments like PDD, P.H.E & Mechanical Divisions, USIC Jammu University, IIIM (erstwhile RRL), Hydel Projects, observe an undeclared holiday on Vishwakarma Day.
Rashpal Verma congratulated Jammuites on the auspicious occasion and assured that demand of Vishwakarma holiday will be taken up at appropriate level.
Prominent among those who walked with Yatra include d Rampaul, Bansi Lal, Banka Ram, Ram Lal and many other take part in Shobha Yatra.
