Electronics & Mech Enggs celebrates 75th Corps day

UDHAMPUR, Oct 15: General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, Lt Gen D Anbu has complimented all ranks of the Corps of EME on their 75th Corps day.
He also commended their continued dedication, high degree of professionalism and dexterity in maintaining operational readiness of the plethora of equipment held in the Command theatre in difficult and inhospitable terrain and inclement weather conditions.
The Corps of EME was initially raised as “Indian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers” during World War-II. The raising was completed on Oct 15, 1943 and the same is being observed as EME Corps day since then. Since its inception, the Corps has consistently performed exceedingly well in all the operations conducted by the Indian Army.
The professionalism displayed by the Corps in soldiering as well as engineering support is evident in the range of honours and awards its personnel have been bestowed with, including Padma series awards, Arjuna awards and Ashok Chakra.
The Corps day is celebrated by commemorating their fallen comrades in a solemn wreath laying ceremony at Dhurva War Memorial, Headquarters Northern Command by senior officers and veterans.
