Illegal construction on forest land demolished

RAJOURI, May 15: In a joint operation of Forest, Revenue and Police departments, an illegal construction on forest land was demolished in Kandi Gali area of Koteranka falling in compartment 61/K.
Despite stiff resistance from the encroachers, the joint team successfully demolished the illegal construction and a case FIR was also registered in this connection against the accused.
Range officer Kandi, Nayeem Ahmed informed that the encroachers were trying to take advantage of Covid lockdown restrictions to encroach upon the forest land and a complaint in this regard was received by Divisional Forest Officer Rajouri Dr Arshdeep Singh. Accordingly, he added, police help was taken from SSP Rajouri and Additional DC Koteranka was approached for deputing magistrate for evicting the forest land from the encroachers.
The joint team of three departments was constituted which employed JCB machine for dismantling the concrete structures under protection of police party and Forest Protection Force personnel.
In this connection, an FIR also has been registered against the culprits under Indian Forest Act in Police Station Koteranka.
