DC orders probe into Corona death

POONCH, May 15: District administration Poonch today ordered an inquiry into the alleged negligence by hospital authorities, leading to death of a COVID-19 positive woman here.
The deceased woman, a resident of Mangnar tehsil of Haveli Poonch, died yesterday and was later cremated. Her relatives staged protest, accusing the district hospital authorities of negligence.
“A video went viral on social media ….wherein the attendants of the deceased are seen charging hospital authorities with negligence in handling the COVID positive case,” read an order by Deputy Commissioner Poonch Inder Jeet.
Further, the order said, Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Poonch has reported that the attendant of the woman “manhandled the doctor on duty.”
“The allegations are of very serious in nature and need to be thoroughly investigated,” the DC underlined and has appointed Dr Basharat Hussain, Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch as the Inquiry Officer.
“He shall impartially inquire the matter and submit the factual report within seven days positively to the undersigned (DC).” He shall be fully cooperated by Health authorities, the DC said in the order.
