IIT Bombay workshop on “R” held at SMVDU

KATRA, Nov 11: SMVDU in collaboration with IIT Bombay, conducted one day Spoken Tutorial based ICT workshop on “R”, under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), MHRD, Govt of India.
R is a Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) and is a well organized and sophisticated package that facilitates data analysis, modeling, inferential testing, and forecasting in a user-friendly manner thereby allowing the creation of new function commands to solve statistical problems.
The main aim of the workshop was to impart training on R software to a large number of college/ polytechnic/ school teachers from engineering and science domains, across the country, through the T10KT methodology. This time the IIT Bombay made workshop open for PhD Research scholars of Indian universities.
Prof Kannan Moudgalya, Principal Investigator, Teaching Learning Centre (ICT), Spoken Tutorial and FOSSEE projects, IIT Bombay, was Teaching faculty who promoted R for technical and Laboratory use. Dr Pankaj Biswas, Assistant Professor, School of Physics, was the Course Coordinator. Sudesh Bhadu, Assistant Professor and Deepak Kumar, Technical Assistant, School of Computer Science and Engineering were the Remote Centre Coordinator and the A-VIEW Technician, respectively, for conducting the workshop.
