JAMMU, Mar 27: In a proud moment for the architects of J&K, Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) centre of J&K has been upgraded to the “The Indian Institute of Architects, J&K Chapter”.
This was announced today during General Body meeting of IIA J&K centre held in Jammu. The meeting announced that the formation of Jammu & Kashmir Chapter of IIA was accepted by the president and announced in the IIA Council meeting (COM 2) held on 27/02/2021 at Chennai.
It is pertinent to mention here that the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir already had a functioning Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) centre since 27th January 1996 under Northern Chapter. The centre today has more than 100 active members.
The IIA centre, J&K has been playing a major role in promoting the architectural profession in the UT by bringing the architects on one platform and trying to resolve different issues related to the profession. The centre has been organizing various activities like building material exhibitions, symposia’s, conferences, etc in order to increase the awareness about the profession amongst the common masses.
The centre has a duly elected executive committee (term 2020-2022) comprising of Vikas Dubey (chairman), Vishal Abrol (vice chairman), Anil Verma (joint honorary secretary), Sanjeev Mahajan (honorary treasurer) and members Navin Gupta, Satish Bhagat and Vishal Bhatti.
