JAMMU, June 11: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar today called on GOC-in-C, Northern Command Lt Gen D S Hooda.
During the meeting, IGP and GOC-in-C held detailed discussion with regard to various security aspects including forthcoming Shri Amarnath Yatra.
A meeting was also held by IGP Jammu Zone with District Police Officers and Commandants of CRPF with regard to security measures on Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, particularly security of lodging centres, langers, yatra stop points and aspects related to deal with rescue operations.
Besides, crime review of entire District Udhampur was also conducted with more emphasis on the preventive aspects of policing with particular emphasis on road accident, drug addiction etc.
A public meeting was also held by IGP with the prominent citizens of the district Udhampur and various issues raised by the general public were patiently heard which include traffic control, posting of Women Police Officer in Police Women Cell Udhampur, activities under Civic Action Programme (CAP), establishment of drug de-addiction centres for youth and bovine smuggling, etc.
IGP gave assurance for time bound redressal of the raised issues and bring corrective measures wherever required for the satisfaction of general public and assured effective delivery mechanism.
The prominent citizens who attended the meeting included Ramanand Baria, President Beopar Mandal, Sukhdev Singh, general secretary NPP, Sukhdev Sharma, district president PDP, Vikram Slathia, social worker, Neelam Khajura, Subash Gupta and others.
The officers who attended the meeting included Garib Dass, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, Superintendent of Police District Udhampur, Khalil Ahmed Poswal, Additional SP Udhampur, SDPOs and SHOs of the District.
