JAMMU, Aug 18: Indira Gandhi National Open University has developed a nation-wide 36-hour (6 days) Professional Development Programme (NEP-PDP) which is equivalent to UGC-HRDC short term PDP and can be completed in a maximum of nine days.
For NEP-PDP, registration shall take place on the SAMARTH online platform in respective states by IGNOU Regional Centres and the programme delivery shall take place on the SWAYAM platform by the IGNOU Headquarters.
The registration for the said programme started on August 15, 2022. The programme shall be conducted in various batches, as specified in the SAMARTH portal and a teacher can register for any suitable batch. The teacher can register online through the link https://ignou-nep-pdp.samarth.ac.in/ by uploading Institution I/Card or letter from the Head of Institution. The certification on successful completion of the programme shall also be equally useful for purposes of API, CAS and any other career advancement requirements specified by UGC. Any teacher of any Higher Education Institute in India can register and participate in the Professional Development Programme on National Education Policy-2020.
Pertinent to mention that National Education Policy 2020 was released by the Government of India in July 2020 and various efforts are being made by a number of higher education Institutions towards its effective implementation. Teachers being the key players, about 15 lakh teachers of the Universities and Colleges need to be oriented on various recommendations of the policy. The Union Ministry of Education has entrusted the responsibility of orienting the higher education teachers on implementation of NEP-2020 to the UGC and IGNOU.
“After going through the total of 36 hours of training (comprising of 6 days of inputs, equivalent to a 6-Day short-term professional development programme of UGC-HRDC), the participating faculty shall be well-equipped with knowledge about various dimensions of NEP-2020. They will be able to describe the foundational principles of NEP-2020, structural arrangements, GER, access, equity, inclusion, 21st century learning in higher education and plan for their further growth and development. Teaching fraternity across the region may register themselves for this programme and have the pleasure of being the building blocks in transforming the education system,” said Dr Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director In charge, Regional Centre Jammu.
