ICRC reviews relief activities conducted by IRCS

JAMMU, Dec 17: A high level delegation from International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) called on general secretary, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), J&K State, Roma Wani to review the relief and rehabilitation activities conducted post-flood in the State.
During the meeting, IRCS also informed about their contribution in cash to flood victims and medicines or medical accessories to the hospitals and water purifiers to the PHE Department.
The delegation complimented the efforts of the general secretary and her team for the emergency response to the recent floods in the State. The strengthening of the Red Cross Volunteer force through FMR trainings and its response during the September 2014 floods was also appreciated.
Further, the delegation assured full support to the State Branch in emergency preparedness and disaster risk reduction activities planned for 2015.
Roma Wani expressed hope that International Committee of Red Cross would continue their support in future also.
