Addressing a press conference here today, State president of All J&K Home Guards Welfare Association, Kamla Sharma, said that previous administration/Government has totally failed to implement the SC order and poor Home Guards are still facing lot of hardships.
Kamla said recently Government raised the slot of pay of Home Guards from Rs 545 per month to Rs 2700 per month but this increased salary is also too meager to fulfill basic needs of family. She regretted that while many states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, MP, UP and Goa had implemented the Supreme Court order to adjust Home Guards as regular constables but J&K is not implementing the same.
She expressed hope that the State administration under new Governor, Satya Pal Malik will end atrocities on the Home Guards by implementing the Supreme Court judgement regarding adjustment of all Home Guards of the State as regular constables.
Kamla said that according to the judgement of the Apex Court, equal pay should be given for equal work but the allowance paid to Home Guards in the State is insult to the duties performed by them. She said that the association will carry on their fight from road to Court till their ultimate goal of regularization as a constable is achieved.
