Holi celebrated with fervour, gaiety

JAMMU, Mar 17:The Holi-the festival of colours was celebrated with full religious fervour and gaiety all over Jammu region yesterday with people remaining busy in sprinkling colours on each other and making merry.
The people from early hours especially youth were seen in groups sprinkling colours on each other in streets, parks, bazaars and road sides.
Enjoying the celebration of the festival they were dancing to the beating of drums.
The public transport was off the roads mostly as every body was busy in celebrating the Holi. The jawans of armed forces, CRPF and BSF also organized special functions to celebrate the occasion and greet each other.
Special Holi functions and celebration programmes were organized by some religious organizations and there was a huge rush in temples from early in they morning.
A special function on the occasion was organized in ISCKON Temple at Dream City Muthi where a large number of devotees thronged to participate in the celebrations.
Reports reaching here from Kathua said that three days Holi Mela  culminated at Shri Narsingh Dev Temple Hatli More today.
Over 50,000 devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu region participated in the celebrations. The Havan and Bhajan Kirtan were the highlights of the festival. The devotees were also served with prashad.
The Temple has been constructed by first Dogra ruler Maharaja Gulab Singh and every year a holi fair is being organized here.
The reports coming from other districts said that Holi festival was celebrated with full religious enthusiasm in Kathua, Samba, Doda, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Bhaderwah, Ramban, Reasi, holy township of Katra, Akhnoor, Sunderbani, Nowshera, Kalakote, Rajouri and Poonch.
